Editorial Policy
The Kentucky Journal of Communication is committed to
publishing high quality scholarship that focuses centrally
on communication, mass media, and manuscripts published
in the journal represent the diversity of scholarship that
comprises communication. This journal is not restricted
theoretical or methodological perspectives. The KJC follows
a policy of blind peer review and welcomes submissions
regardless of their type, orientation or geographical origin. The editor reserves the right to return without benefit of review manuscripts that are outside the mission of the journal, are deeply flawed, or do not conform to the guidelines of the KJC. An electronic cover letter must accompany each submitted manuscript that assures the editor that the manuscript is original, verified, unpublished, and not under editorial review for other journals or has appeared in any other published form.
To insure blind review,
no author-identifying information should be included in the text
or references. Author identifying information should appear
on a separate title page. Author should keep original,
as copies will not be returned. The Kentucky Journal of
Communication will not publish any material for which the
assignment of copyright is withheld. Authors are responsible
for the accuracy of all material submitted, including charts,
graphs, references and quotations, etc. All manuscripts
accepted for publication will be edited to the latest APA style manual and space limitations. The views expressed
herein are those of the authors and not necessarily those
of the editor, the board, the Kentucky Communication Association,
or its officers.

Issues
The KENTUCKY JOURNAL OF COMMUNICATION INDEX: 1969-2005 was compiled by Thomas J. Sabetta (Editor) and published in the Fall 2005 Issue The index is divided into three parts. Part I, table of contents, provides a chronological listing of every article from the fall of 1969 issue to date. Part II, index of subjects, the articles are divided into ten categories. These categories were determined after consulting the interests groups listed in the KACA constitution and the “suggestions to contributors” section in the fall 1980 issue of the KJC. Part III, list of contributors, is an alphabetical listing of the contributors.

teaching position papers, book reviews, and forensic
material for its upcoming issues. Submissions are accepted
at any time, the deadlines are December 31st for Spring and June 1 for Fall. Submit to the editor, one digital copy
of the double-spaced on 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper. As well,
a separate title page must accompany each manuscript.
It should include a short biographical summary of each
author including full name, professional title, year
and institution of latest degree obtained, address, telephone
number(s)-office, fax, home, and email address. If any
portion of the manuscript has been presented in other
forms (speech, colloquy, etc.) or in other forums (convention,
conference, etc.), details on the occasion and form must
also be included on the title page. Any manuscript should
be double-spaced on 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper with an abstract
not to exceed 200 words. The following are specific instructions
for the submissions we are seeking.
For Research Articles
Authors are required to submit to the editor, four (4)
copies of the manuscript, double-spaced, with a maximum
200 word abstract, following the 5th edition of the APA manual and typed in 12 point
Times New Roman font. Manuscripts normally are not to
exceed 6,000 words (or approximately 24 typed pages,
double-spaced, exclusive of references, charts, graphs,
and footnotes). No author-identifying information should
appear in the document. The KJC seeks theory and speculation
or empirical findings that are theoretically grounded
and backed by a thorough survey of literature and a list
of references. Articles may concern any subject in the
broadly defined area of communication inclusive of, but
not limited to, organizational communication, interpersonal
communication, intercultural communication, legal communication,
mass media, advertising, public relations, rhetorical
theory or criticism, discourse analysis, argumentation,
administration of co-curricular activities such as forensics
or theatre, any forensics/debate competitive event or
manifestation thereof in academic or public arena. The
journal is open to any methodology that is well grounded
inclusive of historical and case studies in any of these
areas plus others that arguably fall under the scope
of the journal.
For Instructional Forum
Authors are required to submit to the editor, four (4) double-spaced, with a maximum 200 word abstract or
rationale, following the current edition of the APA manual
where appropriate. Manuscripts are normally 1,000 to
3,000 words (or approximately 6-12 typed pages, double-spaced,
exclusive of references, charts, graphs, footnotes, and
appendices) that discuss some pedagogical idea that is
of direct use to readers. These may be lesson plans,
syllabi, classroom exercises, videos, etc. that report
the nature and development of innovations in the teaching
of communication. Although documentation requirments are not as rigorous, some attempt
should be made, based on literature, to justify the submission oin the abstract or rationale section,
in footnotes, or in the reference section.
For a Position Paper/ Essay

appropriate) that focus on issues of a general concern

teaching and politics, the nature of the profession,
future direction of the discipline, or any other relevant
subject as it relates to communication and our audience.
For Book Reviews
